South Wales’s ultimate dog retreat has opened its doors and offers that home-from-home feel.
Co-owners Johanna Whetall, her boyfriend Jesse Rendell and his parents, have transformed a run down 29-acre plot in South Wales into a fantastic secure dog park, sensory dog play and most recently, a luxury dog hotel, called The Cwtch Animal Homestay. With the work now complete, they opened the doors to the dog hotel at the beginning of June to welcome their first guests!
This project came to life during lockdown when the family found the perfect plot nestled in the countryside of Henllys, just 1.6 miles from Cwmbran and 3.6 miles from Newport. With a few delays due to the effects of Covid, they initially turned their attention to creating the Dog Adventure Park and are now ready to showcase The Cwtch luxury dog hotel.
“Our luxury dog hotel will be a safe, stimulating and social set up. A cage-free environment, with an inviting and cosy, home from home feel, to ensure our guests are having just as much fun on their holiday as their parents are on theirs!” said Johanna.
“All of our hotel guests will enjoy a daily routine that incorporates the perfect amount of physical stimulation, social interaction, mental enrichment and plenty of human company. Each guest will enjoy daily group walks around our grounds of beautiful woodland areas and meadows, exciting off-lead play in our secure outdoor areas, engaging enrichment games and puzzles, relaxing naps in their luxury private rooms, and a lot of staff snuggles in our farmhouse style kitchen and lounge areas.
“Our luxury dog hotel has 12 private suites with cosy, homely touches, underfloor heating and, best of all, completely cage free! Complementing our luxurious private suites, guests will have access throughout the day to our open plan farmhouse kitchen and lounge area, making them feel right at home! We are hoping our luxury dog hotel will take away any reluctance and provide dog owners in the area the reassurance they need when it comes to leaving their dogs somewhere, while they go away on holiday. Our facility is the complete opposite of a traditional dog kennel, with a very social, home from home set up, offering guests the perfect place to relax and enjoy a stress free, fun stay while their owners are away.
