BATH Cats & Dogs Home's annual Fun Day returns on August Bank Holiday Monday!
Four-legged fun will be the order of the day at the Claverton Down-based rescue centre from 11am, when the gates will open for visitors to enjoy a host of displays, games, stalls and tasty food.
The event's always much anticipated fun dog show will be getting tails wagging again this year, with categories including Best Rescue, Fabulous Fella, Loveliest Lady, Cutest Puppy and Golden Oldie. Handsome Kelpie Riddle won Best in Show 2018, and we can’t wait to find out who will be crowned the 2019 champion!
In the main demo ring there’s doggie fun to watch with a showcase from Saxon Agility Club and a chance for you to have a go with your own dog too. BCDH rescue dogs looking for homes will also be showing off their skills in the hope that someone in the crowd will fall in love with them!
Live music and demos from the Entertainment Trailer will woo visitors whilst they take a minute to relax and watch a whole host of talent. The Legendary snakeSNAKEsnake, will be blending Mariachi, European, Punk and Rock 'n' Roll rhythms into a strange Somerset melting pot to create a heady mix of raucous uptempo 'Burrow Hillbilly Cow Punk'. For those that are interested in learning something new there’ll also be workshops and demonstrations of the South East Asian Martial Art Kali Sikaran Bath.
Delicious Food stalls will range from hot tasty burgers, to sandwiches and scrummy homemade cakes, and there will be a fully stocked bar.
This year’s event is kindly sponsored by Crest Nicholson and one not to be missed. Last year the event raised an amazing £21,000 which helps the Home to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted and often cruelly treated animals. Nicola Cragg, Animal Care Manager said “Preparations are already well underway to make sure everyone has a fantastic day out at Bath Cats and Dogs Home’s Fun Day this year, we can’t wait to see our visitors enjoying themselves and helping us to raise money for the animals we care for. You get a real sense that all those attending the event, whatever their age, love animals as much as we do, and we can’t thank everyone enough for supporting us and helping to raise lots of money for the animals in our care.”
Free parking will be available at Bath University. Entrance tickets for adults cost £4.50, children, £2.50 (free for under 4s) and family tickets, £12 (discounts if you buy in advance). Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. For more event information, to buy tickets and details on the fun dog show, visit bcdh.org.uk/funday
