The New Forest National Park is a unique landscape of ancient woodland, heather-covered heath, wide lawns, boggy mires, gentle farmland, coastal saltmarsh and mudflats and picturesque villages. The forest was once the royal hunting ground of William the Conqueror. It is home to 193,000 acres of unspoilt heath and ancient woodland.
Today the area is a lively, working landscape with many secrets to discover. Guided walks are also available. You can also enjoy the forest by bike; many of the centres around the forest now have 'muttmobiles' or dog cabs available to hire for the day so you and your dog can explore the countryside together.
