Ryedale Folk Museum

Nestled in the beautiful village of Hutton-le-Hole in the North York Moors National Park, Ryedale Folk Museum is Yorkshire’s leading open-air museum. Together, more than 40,000 objects and 20 heritage buildings, beautifully displayed over a six-acre site, bring to life the history and lives of ordinary people from Ryedale. Dogs are welcome throughout the site!

Visit the traditional workshops of the blacksmith, cobbler, wheelwright and carpenter. Explore a Victorian thatched cottage, washhouse and dairy. See a rare wooden 'witch post' in our 18th century cottage. Imagine what life was like in an Elizabethan Manor house, medieval crofter's cottage or typical Iron Age roundhouse. And don't miss the orchard and farming area where for more of the year there are rare-breed animals to feed.
