A member of the Spitz type breeds and conforming to many of the type's characteristics such as. They were initially bred as a herding dog and are still used as such. They've recently found new roles as sniffer dogs and guard dogs.
Norwegian Buhund Character
Active, vigilant and full of energy, they have retained a strong working instinct. Buhunds are highly trainable and will bond closely with their family, displaying an excellent temperament with children. They thrive when kept as a member of the family and will not enjoy living outdoors.

The Breed Standard specifies and ideal height of 45cm and a weight in proportion to their size.

A low incidence of inherited disorders in the breed, they are generally healthy provided they are adequately cared for and exercised
