They were popular as a ratting dog during the industrial revolution, finding much work amongst the newly built mills and factories as well as gaining a reputation as a fearsome fighter before the practice was outlawed.
Manchester Terrier character
A keen, lively breed with a stubborn streak in common with all terriers. They are especially good with children they've been raised with. A highly trainable breed, they can excel in organised activities as they do well when given a defined aim to focus on.
Manchester Terrier size
The Breed Standard states that the ideal height for a Manchester Terrier is 41cm for dogs and 38cm for bitches.
Manchester Terrier health
A generally healthy breed, although as they are energetic you should take care whilst exercising them to avoid causing muscular and joint issues.

Proper socialization is required to stop them developing any bad habits that would see them become destructive.
