A hard working gundog, but one who will make an excellent pet to the right family. Always wanting to please, very obedient, but can be boisterous as puppies. They love water!

Welsh Springer Spaniel Character

Highly intelligent and easy to train, the Breed Standard describes them as having a "kindly disposition, not showing aggression or nervousness". Devoted to their family, the WSS is a hardy dog who loves work and water. Given the stimulation, they make great pets but they thrive on human company.

: A medium dog. The Breed Standard stipulates 48cm at withers and bitches 46cm.

Welsh Springer Spaniel Health

Hip Dysplasia can occur so always choose your breeder carefully. Generally the WSS is a healthy dog with few breed specific ailments.

Welsh Springer Spaniel Special Care

Like most gundogs, the WSS will need mental stimulation - whether its retrieving a ball or playing search and find games - giving the dog a job to do will be key to channelling all that energy!
