A one-man dog, devoted to his owner and distrustful of strangers.
Loyal to the core. There is a story about Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who, for 14 years, laid on his master's grave only leaving for food. The Breed Standard describes them as "a 'one-man' dog, distrustful of strangers, never vicious."
The Breed Standard stipulates the ideal height at 25-26cm, length from tip of nose to tip of tail 105cm. Bitches slightly smaller in same proportions.
A good hardy breed with few breed specific problems.
Take care not to over exercise when young as this can damage his growing bones. This is also a rare breed - expect a waiting list.
Remember! All breed profiles are general and every dog is an individual.
