These dogs have an elegant look, an independent yet playful personality and a quick thinking mind and they'll often outwit you! That said, they're very loyal to their family and pretty easy to have around.
They're pretty obedient and with consistent training they are one of the few hounds that will return on command. They have an affectionate character although can be a headache for other small pets and wildlife because of their hunting nature. They love to have company, especially from humans.
A medium sized hound, the Breed Standards say dogs should stand at between 56-63 cms and bitches 53-61 cms.
The Pharaoh Hound is a relatively healthy breed. There were cases of them suffering from Patella Luxation in the UK, although no cases have been recorded for several years now. They are long-livers, generally surviving between 12 and 14 years.
A very easy dog to look after.
